Zions Bancorporation is seeking a Solution Architect Manager to lead a highly skilled team of architects to support the bank’s architectural vision. This leader will balance a deep knowledge of technology and architectural frameworks with effective leadership and execution capabilities. Strong communication skills, a demonstrated collaboration mindset, and persistence in the face of complex technical challenges are essential! 

 

The Enterprise Architecture team is at the forefront of transformational technology initiatives, building interactive and engaging solutions for our bankers and customers. As a Solution Architect Manager, you will embrace Zions digital banking vision and contribute your leadership to achieve that vision. This person will be a catalyst for change, an advocate for the enterprise, and have a direct impact on Zions Bancorporation.

Your primary responsibilities: 

  • Support the bank’s architecture strategy, including the formal architectural framework and roadmaps. 
  • Build strong governance of technology to ensure safe and sound business solutions (availability, performance, security, scalability, and interoperability). 
  • Help champion an innovative and responsible culture that balances speed, flexibility and responsiveness with security, resiliency and sustainable practices. 
  • Enable, guide and motivate a team of Solution Architects to define, achieve and maintain exceptional solutions across all architectural domains. 
  • Act as advisor and consultant to executive leadership on technology and architecture topics (CIO, CISO, COO, CTO, etc.). 
  • Drive stakeholder understanding of, and engagement in, architectural standards, approaches and objectives. Forge strong working relationships with key stakeholders and leaders in infrastructure, application delivery, cybersecurity, banking and internal IT system product teams, risk management, and audit. 
  • Ensure continuous, efficient and responsive architectural support for the bank’s key strategic initiatives: banking core transformation, digital transformation, cybersecurity enhancement, etc. 
  • Identify and execute on opportunities to improve efficiency and delivery capability through automation and continuous improvement. 
  • Provide timely and high-quality reports and briefings on architecture roadmap, strategic initiatives and architecture metrics to executive leadership. 

 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated technical leadership experience in an enterprise environment, managing people, processes and budgets to achieve corporate and divisional objectives (we prefer 2+ years of direct supervisory experience). 
  • Direct, hands-on experience establishing solution architecture elements including solution designs, architecture enabler roadmaps, and design patterns (e.g., Zachmann, TOGAF, COBIT).  Prefer current knowledge of industry best practices for architectural governance of cloud, Agile, DevSecOps, etc. 
  • Broad and deep technology expertise in multiple technology domains: application development/delivery, datacenter infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, enterprise data management/data governance, with a strong background of connecting multiple technical domains together on large-scale projects. 
  • Conversant in banking/financial sector regulations and expectations, e.g., SOX, GLBA, GDPR, CCPA. 
  • Exceptional communication skills through both written and interpersonal situations with the ability to convey concepts and principles in executive communications 
  • Requires a Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field and 7+ years of technology or architecture experience. A combination of education and experience may meet job requirements.

Ideally this position will be in Salt Lake City, UT but is open to work remotely.

Pay Range: $140,000 - $180,000

Bonus: This position will be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
